When producing molded fiber tableware, there are two main technologies:
Process: Recycled paper pulp or bagasse pulp is mixed with water → pulp slurry is transferred into forming molds → excess water is removed by vacuum suction → wet product is dried and hot-pressed.
Applications: Widely used for paper plates, paper cups, lunch boxes, and bowls.
Advantages:
Mature and cost-effective technology
Suitable for medium to large-scale disposable plates factory production
Flexible mold change, supporting various shapes and sizes
Limitations: Requires drying equipment (In mold drying or, single-layer / multi-layer dryer), leading to higher energy consumption compared to dry fiber molding.
Process: Dry fiber is prepared with a minimal amount of water and additives → fiber sheet is directly formed and pressed in heated molds → product is ready immediately without conventional drying.
Applications: High-speed production of thin-walled packaging such as cups, lids, trays, and premium molded fiber packaging.
Advantages:
Eliminates traditional drying step → much faster cycle time
Lower energy consumption per piece
