Features of Carbonless Paper/NCR Paper

Multi‑Layer Structure
Carbonless paper is composed of multiple superimposed layers: the back of the top sheet is coated with microcapsules containing color‑forming dyes, while the front of each underlying sheet carries a layer of developer colorants. When pressure is applied—by handwriting, typing, or impact printing—the microcapsules burst and release the dye, which reacts instantly with the developer on the sheet below, creating a clear copy without the need for separate carbon paper.

Color‑Development Principle
Under pressure, the microcapsules on the CB (coated back) layer rupture, releasing dye that migrates onto the CFB (coated front back) layer of the sheet beneath. A chemical reaction between the dye and the developer produces a sharp, permanent mark. This self‑contained system allows for faithful, multi‑part copying in 2‑, 3‑, or even 4‑part sets.

Environmental Safety
