Framework: The springs are installed within a wooden furniture frame.

Attachment: They are mounted to the front and back rails of the frame using specialized ZigZag Spring Clips. These clips have

prongs that grip the spring and are then nailed or screwed to the wood. They also allow for slight tensioning of the spring.

Support: Drop-in Wires or Cross Wires are often used. These are straight, heavy-gauge wires that run perpendicular to the zigzag

springs, clipped to them at the peaks. They prevent the springs from bowing sideways and add significant torsional rigidity to the system.

Tying (Optional but Recommended for High-End Work): In the best quality furniture, the springs are "tied" to each other and to the

cross wires using spring-tying twine in an 8-point or 9-point pattern. This further locks everything into a unified, rock-solid foundation.

Insulation: A layer of Burlap or a non-woven padding is stapled over the completed spring system to prevent the final padding and

foam from migrating down into the springs.

Top Padding & Upholstery: Layers of foam, batting, and finally the fabric are added on top.
