LZCG930-10 high precision protectioncurrent transformer is suitable
for microcomputer protection of electrical equipment in 10KV and
35KV AC power system. It is widely used in not only compact fully
insulated ring network switchgears such as ABB-SafeRing/ SafePlus,
Uniswitch, Schneider RM6, SM6, Siemens 8DJ10/8DH10, Simosec, FBX,
Fluokit, Omar Garbo GA, GAE; SEL TPS(Q); VEI Unifluorc; Eaton
SVS/12 ring network, but also cable distribution boxes because of
its small size, light weight, openable and convenient installation.
The protection current transformer is used to reduce the currents in power systems, producing proportional currents in the unit’s secondary windings that remain isolated from the main circuit. The replica current is then used as an input to a protective relay, which can then automatically isolate part of the power circuit should it experience a fault.
Protection Current Transformers are designed to measure the actual currents in power systems and to produce proportional currents in their secondary windings which are isolated from the main power circuit.
protection cts are used for protection against over current or faulty current, their secondary is
thusconnected to the protection relays and the to the tripping coil. there may be series or shunt
tripmechanism, thus the burden(VA) of protection ct is more as compared to metering cts.
The classification of protection current transformers follows the following simple formula: "10 P10" Manufacturers of protection devices will normally specify the classification for the
protection current transformer intended to operate the particular protection device concerned.
This is required for protection CT, because the fault current is high and the CT should be able tosense the high fault current accurately to protect the system. The common numbers are 10, 15, 20 and 30. Class PS: PS is for 'Protection Special'. This class of CT's are used for special
Protection such as differential protection, distance.
P1, P2 is primary polarity terminal, S1, S2 is secondary polarity
terminal.
